Description
Original Drawing by Carl-Henning Pedersen, on XL Photographic Portrait of the Danish CoBrA artist.
Pedersen reworked the image adding a playful composition of whimsical, bird-like and anthropomorphic figure, in his distinctive lyrical style.
Hand-signed by Pedersen, lower middle.
Bottom right on the mount signed by hand and dated (19)96 by the photographer Aernout Overbeeke.
Work is part of the series "Portrait of CoBrA Artists ", 1996, by Dutch photographer Aernout Overbeeke.
Originally a black-and-white photographic portrait printed on fine watercolor paper (size ca. 110 x 80 cm), the work was transformed by the artist himself in 1998 into a unique, vibrant piece.
In 1995 Dutch photographer Aernout Overbeeke (b.1951) made a remarkable series of portraits of seventeen renowned CoBrA-artists. At a distance of three meters Overbeeke zoomed in on the hands and eyes. The portraits were printed on large-size watercolour paper.
These portraits were transformed by the CobrA-artists themselves in their own style into unique mixed-media pieces, using techniques such as watercolor, drawing, crayons and pencil. The series was exhibited at the CoBrA Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen. Here we present one of those portraits.
Professionally framed in our own frame-shop, in a hand-crafted, wooden frame with Plexiglas® Optical HC, scratch-resistant and UV-protected. Size framed: approx.120 x 85 cm.

His work has been exhibited in numerous occasions during solo and group exhibitions in several internationally renowned places such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris and the Walkers Art Center in Minneapolis . In 1976 the city of Herning in Denmark dedicated a museum to him with more than 3,000 pieces made by him.
