A self-taught artist, Dannie Launay has always oscillated between photography and painting, before realizing that the two could interact and enrich each other. Her photographs often become the starting point for her pictorial works, nourishing her creative universe and giving rise to a unique approach, at the boundary between figurative and abstract art.

Her techniques are varied and demonstrate a great freedom of expression. For her figurative paintings, she combines India ink and acrylic, while her modern canvases are created with a palette knife, in a lively and contemporary style. Her collages, abstract or figurative, are constructed like palimpsests: painted backgrounds, antique papers, fragments of photographs, excerpts from catalogs or magazines, textures of cardboard or silk… So many materials worked, crumpled, patinated, and partially repainted, which imbue the whole with depth and a visual memory.

A multifaceted artist, Dannie Launay impresses with the strength and intensity emanating from her works. Her canvases and collages, mysterious and audacious, leave no one indifferent. She conjures deep hues and luminous bursts, masterful balance and spontaneity, tradition and experimentation. The viewer discovers a vibrant universe imbued with delicacy and emotion, where the concrete and the imaginary converge.
