Description
Exclusive to Belart Gallery.
This artwork showcases a remarkable fusion of traditional Arabic calligraphy and modern abstract design. The focal point is a bold, sweeping calligraphic form in the center, masterfully executed in white against a dynamic background. The intricate, interwoven patterns in shades of gray form an intricate tapestry, offering depth and texture. A striking red line horizontally slices through the composition, introducing a sharp contrast that draws the eye. This piece uniquely combines classical calligraphic elegance with a contemporary aesthetic, inviting viewers to explore the visual rhythm and flow. The balanced interplay of color, form, and script invites reflection on the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. This work exemplifies how modern art can maintain cultural roots while expressing fresh, captivating ideas.
Presentation
Once settled in Marrakech, in this ochre city that has seen generations of calligraphers flourish, Abderrahim Hamza develops his art and quickly invests in some of the most coveted exhibition spaces. While he follows in the footsteps of a great ancestral tradition, the artist also demonstrates openness in his aesthetic choices, drawing inspiration from the shared Arab, Andalusian, Jewish, and Amazigh cultures. Always open to new ideas, he employs techniques and artistic choices marked by a powerful breath of creativity and innovation.
With great consistency and beautiful regularity, Hamza unfolds a skill imbued with generosity and warmth, making this contemporary calligraphy particularly striking.
