Description
A dense social scene comes alive under the harsh light of a suspended lamp. The painter captures the effervescence of a shared moment in a confined space. Faces overlap. Features are stylized, almost caricatural. Each gaze crosses with the other with a singular intensity.
The influence of street art marks the composition. The lines are sharp. The colors saturate the space to emphasize the energy of the group. In the foreground, female figures attract attention through marked chromatic contrasts. The deep blue background accentuates the depth of the room.
The artist plays with perspectives. The red and black checkered floor guides the eye towards the back of the room. Everyday details punctuate the setting, such as a glass placed on a round table. This acrylic painting made in 2020 explores the human figure through a figurative and graphic prism. The whole forms a visual narrative where illustration and social observation mingle.
Presentation
David Jehan, aka B.Boss, is a French artist born in 1967. After working as an architect for many years, he eventually turned to painting, which he exercised exclusively during ten years.
In his paintings, B.Boss depicts our daily life scenes, tells us stories and make us share our emotions through a colorful, fun style inspired by urban art, free representation and illustration.
The works of B.Boss have been exhibited at the Grand Contemporary Art Market in Paris in 2008, at the Gallery (R) Art in Lille, at the Gallery ARTé in Granville in 2005, 2006 and 2007, at the Tamzarat Gallery in Paris in 2005. He is represented permanently at the Gallery (R) Art in Lille, and at the TOM P Gallery in Ile de Sein. He has participated as well, several times in contemporary art auctions at the Hôtel Drouot.
