Description
This acrylic composition captures the effervescence of a red district with an assumed irony. The eye is immediately drawn to characters with stylized features. Their angular faces and frozen expressions bring a narrative dimension to the painting.
The space is structured around a plunging perspective. Illuminated signs saturate the top of the canvas. Primary colors dominate the whole, creating a marked contrast with the grayish ground.
The style is inspired by the codes of illustration and urban art. Each figure is drawn with precision. Motifs, such as the sailor's stripes or the dots on the dresses, rhythmize the scene.
The painter transforms an ordinary scene into a playful visual narrative. The influence of the architecture is felt in the management of volumes and vanishing lines.
The work plays on chromatic saturation to translate the nocturnal agitation. Details, such as the pink handbag or the anchor on the t-shirt, anchor the composition in a displaced everyday life. The artificial light of the neon lights bathes the characters in an artificial clarity.
