Mémoire de l'eau, 2025

Marcel Aragonès

With Memoirs of Water, Marcel Aragonès invites us to dive into a pictorial language that is, at the same time, movement, memory, and liquid emotion. This series, created in mixed media on paper, evokes the hidden flows of memory through an affirmed gesturality and a vibrant palette of oceanic tones.

The broad sweeps of blue that traverse the surface with energy become rivers of thought, inner currents that connect the sensory to the spiritual. The material seems to flow without restraint, as if the artist had channeled the very rhythm of water: its force, its transparency, its capacity to envelop and transform.

Interspersed on these aquatic layers are contrasting gestures in red, black, yellow, green… splashes, lines, suspended dots… which interrupt and enrich the visual plane. They are like fragments of memory: precise, incisive. The composition finds its balance between spontaneity and intention, where every spot and every stroke tells a part of the story that water preserves and that the artist releases.

This series does not represent water literally, but invokes it as a metaphor for what is mutable, emotional, for what escapes the fingers but remains in the soul. These works carry the echo of the primordial, a quest for origin, an active contemplation of the fertile chaos that inhabits all true creation.

Memoirs of Water is an intimate cartography, a series that is not looked at, but listened to from within.
