Green Island VII, 2026

Thannyo De Freitas

A singular vision of botanical serenity. This artwork presents a floating island suspended in a void of pure white. A majestic tree dominates the composition. Its canopy expands in dense, rhythmic layers of emerald green. The foliage feels tactile. Each leaf contributes to a sense of lush abundance.
The trunk rises with architectural strength. It anchors the scene with a deep, earthy stability. Below, a mirror-like pond reflects the verdant canopy. The water remains still. It creates a perfect circle of tranquility.
Fine roots descend from the floating earth. They hang like delicate threads into the emptiness. This detail evokes a feeling of fragile equilibrium. The contrast between the heavy greenery and the weightless base invites contemplation. The artist employs a precise technique to capture the organic complexity of nature. Every shadow adds depth to the layered branches. The result is a meditative space. It blends surrealism with a profound respect for the natural world. The composition focuses on the harmony of growth and isolation. The gaze is drawn from the sprawling crown down to the thin, trailing roots.
