Description
In Red 05, Cristiano Felismina presents a portrait of striking emotional intensity, where stillness and symbolism converge to reveal the complexity of the human condition. A young woman meets the viewer with a calm yet penetrating gaze, while vivid crimson marks veil her face and body—not as depictions of physical violence, but as metaphors for emotional memory, vulnerability, and personal transformation.
Executed in oil on linen with exceptional technical precision, the work demonstrates Felismina's mastery of contemporary figurative realism. Delicate transitions of light, luminous skin tones, and an extraordinary sensitivity to expression create a portrait that feels both intimate and universal. Every element of the composition serves the emotional narrative, inviting contemplation rather than explanation.
Part of the artist's acclaimed Red series, continues Cristiano Felismina's exploration of identity, resilience, silence, and the invisible emotional experiences that define us. The recurring use of crimson functions as a symbolic language, representing wounds that cannot be seen, memories that endure, and the quiet strength found in vulnerability.
Presentation
