Description
Fluidity defines this ethereal composition. Golden ribbons dance across a stark white void. The movement is swift and intuitive. Each sweeping line suggests a rhythmic breath. The artist captures a moment of pure kinetic energy.
Acrylic paint flows with a liquid grace. The technique blends precision with spontaneity. Subtle gradients shift from deep ochre to pale cream. This creates a three-dimensional effect. The forms appear to float in a weightless space.
This artwork explores the intersection of emotion and gesture. It draws from the depths of the unconscious. The minimalist palette emphasizes the purity of the curve. There is a dreamlike quality to the arrangement. It evokes a sense of liberation and release.
The balance between the empty background and the central swirl creates a powerful tension. The composition remains open and airy. It invites the viewer into a meditative state. The final result is a sophisticated study of light and motion. The gold tones glow against the neutral expanse.
Presentation
Barcelona based painter Nikolaos Schizas creates dynamic abstract paintings that radiate with vibrant splashes of color, and communicate a strong sense of movement and fluidity. He is inspired by a drive to explore unconscious feelings and repressed emotions.
Mixing acrylics, spray paint and resin, Schizas employs a range of methods, from spraying, pouring and dripping paint directly onto the canvas, to using a mixture of traditional brushes and untraditional tools, such as spatulas, to make sweeping, gestural marks.
A self-taught painter, he expresses through his work a natural and intuitive passion for the materiality of paint, and an instinctual appreciation for emotionally charged color relationships. His fresh and vibrant aesthetic position occupies a space between Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism and Pop, and seems to emanate from a dreamlike and mysterious realm.
