A Symphony of Petals, 2026

Hela

A vibrant explosion of color defines this contemporary still life. The composition centers on a deep blue vase resting against a textured white surface. Bold strokes of oil and pastel create a rhythmic energy across the canvas. Crimson blossoms clash beautifully with dark indigo petals. Purple sprigs reach upward, adding a vertical grace to the arrangement.
The background is a soft, luminous lilac that enhances the saturation of the floral elements. Every shape is simplified yet intentional. This graphic clarity reflects a background in fashion design, where balance and form are paramount. The artist transforms a domestic scene into a joyful visual statement. Thick textures lend a tactile quality to the petals and the vase. Light is captured through a playful application of pigment. The result is a modern interpretation of floral art. It celebrates the understated glamour found in everyday moments. The artwork balances precision with a spontaneous, expressive touch. A final touch of deep red drapes from the vase, anchoring the composition with a rich, decorative detail.

Alongside her still lifes, Hela has developed a second body of work consisting of expressive flower paintings in oil pastel. Influenced by nature, these works embrace a more organic and intuitive approach. For Hela, flowers symbolize the beauty of impermanence ,their short-lived bloom serving as a gentle reminder to slow down, remain present, and cherish the fleeting moments of everyday life.
