Description
This tactile composition merges painting with textile art. A central mass of deep crimson and violet yarns anchors the canvas. The fibers appear dense and organic. They evoke the image of a floating organism or a suspended bloom. Rich burgundy tones transition into dark plums and burnt oranges. These warm hues contrast sharply against the surrounding void. The background is a sea of thick white impasto. Rhythmic swirls of paint create a sense of constant motion. Deep grooves carve paths through the pigment. This heavy texture adds a sculptural dimension to the surface. The interaction between the soft wool and the rigid acrylic creates a sensory tension. Every stroke suggests a swirling current. The artwork explores the boundary between two-dimensional space and physical relief. A single strand of thread descends toward the bottom edge. It grounds the floating form in a precise vertical line.
Presentation
Since 2009, she has taught at the secondary and tertiary levels, currently in the teacher training programs for "Art and Design" and "Technology and Design" at the University College of Teacher Education Styria. Building on the academic analysis of her master's thesis, "The Language of Material – Contemporary Textile Positions," she continued her research on the topic of "Textiles and the Body" in her doctoral studies, both scientifically and artistically. The textile material and its physical interaction with the human body are central to her investigations. The results of her research inform her artistic work, her lectures, and her teaching activities. She currently lives and works in Graz, Austria.T
