Description
A woman emerges from a dense tapestry of floral patterns. Her gaze is soft. She holds a dark book open across her chest. The composition balances intimacy with a rich decorative backdrop. Deep reds and vibrant blues dance around her silhouette. Her auburn hair flows in heavy waves. Long earrings draw the eye toward her serene expression.
The artist employs a bold line. Each contour is precise. The skin tones are warm and luminous. There is a quiet tension in her gesture. One hand rests near her temple. The other supports the weight of the volume. Arabic calligraphy adorns the cover. This detail adds a layer of cultural depth. The artwork blends figurative realism with an ornamental aesthetic. Light falls gently across the pages. The colors remain saturated and vivid. The scene captures a private moment of reflection. It is a study of grace and intellect. The floral motifs create a sense of enclosure. The figure remains the focal point. The contrast between the dark book and the bright background enhances the visual impact. Every brushstroke contributes to a mood of timeless elegance.
Presentation
Mona Trad Dabaji graduated from the American University of Beirut, just as the civil war broke out in Lebanon. She currently lives and works in Beirut, where she has been teaching painting since 1993. Mona Trad Dabaji has exhibited in Lebanon, France, Jordan, the United States and The United Arab Emirates.
Her first milestone in her career was in 1992, when she held her first exhibition « Beyrouth, ville fantôme » (Beirut, The Phantom City), portraying the shattered city center of Beirut…
Ever since, all her work revolves around one recurrent theme: Lebanon, its traditions and culture. Throughout her personages, mainly Lebanese women, she succeeded to convey with great precision this multifaceted and complex culture.
