Description
This portrait explores the meeting between street art and analog nostalgia. The artist uses audio cassettes as a medium, transforming everyday objects into a structured mosaic. The face emerges through a play of stencils and spray paint.
The style is in line with Pop Art. The color contrasts and sharp blocks accentuate the features of an emblematic figure from music. The composition fragments the image, creating a visual rhythm that recalls the cadence of a sound piece.
The aesthetic relies on technical accumulation. Each cassette becomes a physical pixel, bringing a tactile relief to the composition. The lines of the face adapt to the plastic contours of the casings.
This 2026 creation combines graphic precision and popular culture. The final rendering plays on the transparency and opacity of the paint layers. The rigorous assembly of the supports creates a geometric grid where the details of the gaze and the smile merge.
Presentation
Mister Melody is a visual artist based in La Rochelle on the west coast of France.
Born in 1975 in the north of France, he studied art in Belgium and became a tattoo artist in 2000.
Alongside his work, he took out the spray cans and tried his hand at stenciling, but to stand out from the crowd, he had to find an original medium. It was while rummaging through his attic that he found some old audio cassettes. The original medium was all he needed!!!
The project began in 2021, currently has around thirty works and still has plenty of ideas, including spray cans encrusted with audio cassettes and customized with acrylic paint.
