Description
Open hands rest beneath a vast, textured mountain landscape. This original acrylic artwork turns a simple human gesture into a symbol of trust, openness, and self-acceptance. Two palms face upward in the foreground, while cool blue-gray mountains rise behind them, creating a strong contrast between the warmth of the human body and the scale of nature.
The expressive surface is an important part of the composition. Layered acrylic texture gives the mountains a rugged, almost mineral quality, with ridges and valleys emerging through gray, slate, icy blue, charcoal, and muted turquoise. The hands are painted in warmer flesh, peach, beige, and soft gold tones, bringing a sense of vulnerability and humanity into the otherwise cool landscape.

Presentation
Anastasiia Utliakova is a contemporary painter whose work has been exhibited across Russia, including New Names — 2025 at the Kamchatka Regional Art Museum in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, as well as exhibitions at ARS.VISIO in Moscow, YarGallery in Yaroslavl, and Molbert Gallery in Saint Petersburg. Her international program includes the Red Sea Arts Residency in Egypt and the Edinburgh Art Fair in the United Kingdom.
Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Anastasiia explores landscape as an emotional rather than purely geographical space. The nature of Kamchatka—with its vast distances, mountains, water, and sense of isolation—is an important source for her visual language. She simplifies recognizable scenery into broad fields of color, layered brushwork, and shifting light, allowing observation to move gradually toward abstraction.
At the center of her practice is the idea of silence as a state of heightened presence. Through atmospheric landscapes and figurative compositions, she examines the fragile balance between the external world and inner experience. Her ongoing series Where It Becomes Quiet develops this idea through images of nature that function as spaces for contemplation, memory, and emotional pause.
