Description
A painting from the Bright Landscapes series, this sunny na?ve landscape celebrates the joy of simple summer moments. The composition brings together the vastness of the sea, green hills, white houses with red roofs, cypress trees, flowering plants, and bright lemons in the foreground. Pure, vibrant colors and simple, expressive forms create the feeling of a warm southern day filled with sunlight, fresh sea air, and tranquility. The na?ve style gives the landscape a slightly dreamlike, fairytale quality as if it were a place from a happy summer memory. The lemons and flowers become vivid accents within the composition, enhancing the feeling of abundance, warmth, and vitality. The painting conveys a sense of lightness, openness, and joy in the surrounding world. Sea and Lemons is a decorative interior artwork that brings color into a space and creates the feeling of an endless sunny day. The painting will harmoniously complement Mediterranean, contemporary, eco-style, Provence, and Scandinavian interiors. It will be especially expressive against a light, neutral background, where it can become a vibrant focal point of the space.
Presentation
Elena Russkikh is a contemporary Russian artist working in naive figurative painting, naive landscapes, and still life. Her artistic language is based on simplicity, expressive color, clear composition, and a lively handmade quality. Through familiar images, she explores inner states, silence, joy, presence, and the beauty of everyday life.
At the center of her figurative practice is the female image. In the series “What Women Keep Silent About", women appear in moments of pause, reflection, and quiet dialogue with themselves. In her “Bright Landscapes", nature becomes a space of freedom, light, joy, and openness to life. Her naive still lifes turn to cups, fruit, flowers, and everyday objects, revealing the warmth and poetry of ordinary moments.
Elena deliberately avoids academic precision and perfect geometry. Soft asymmetry, simplified forms, slightly irregular contours, and visible traces of the artist's hand give her works a sense of immediacy and human presence. Color plays a central role, creating the emotional atmosphere of each painting. Her works are conceived not simply as narratives, but as visual spaces that invite the viewer to slow down and experience a particular state.
Elena studied at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University (2003–2008) and continued her artistic education through specialized courses in contemporary painting, interior art, and art marketing, including studies at the Lyudmila Lipovskaya School and the creative studio of Nikolai Balyshov.
She is a member of the Eurasian Art Union and has participated in Russian and international exhibitions in Moscow, Beijing, Phnom Penh, and other exhibition projects. In 2026, her works were presented at the international exhibition “Light of Russia in Beijing" and in projects organized by the Gallerist art gallery.
Elena has received 1st place awards in painting in the 2024 and 2025 editions of the “World Through Mother's Eyes" exhibition competition. Her work was also featured in Art-Agent magazine, Issue 26, in 2026.
Her works are represented on international and Russian online art platforms and are held in private collections.
