Description
An abstract composition where matter imposes itself. The painter mixes oil and acrylic to create a tactile relief. A dark and tormented line crosses the canvas diagonally. It evokes a geological fault or a deep root.
The background plays with earthy and mineral tones. Ocher and beige tones blend into greenish shadow areas. The brushwork brings a vaporous softness that contrasts with the rigor of the central stroke.
Light seems to emerge from the superimposed layers. It fragments the space and brings a breath to the heart of the chromatic density. This 2026 canvas explores the balance between brute force and serenity.
The visual rendering emphasizes a search for texture and depth. The whole rests on an organic and sober palette.
Presentation
Amélie Aubin is a painter based in Montreal whose practice explores abstraction through color, movement, and material.
After an initial period of creation in 2015, she moves away from painting for several years before returning to it during a time of profound personal transformation. Creation then becomes a space for her, a way to move forward, to find herself, and to explore a more intimate relationship with herself.
Rather than starting from a fully defined composition, she builds her works progressively, attentive to the balances that appear as she moves.
Her approach is based on a simple conviction: to first paint what she herself wishes to see and feel. When she tries to anticipate the gaze or expectations of others, the gesture loses its accuracy. She thus favors a free and instinctive creation, in which each work is born from the search for a balance between spontaneity, softness, and movement.
