Description
An abstract composition where the material seems to flow with fluidity. The eye follows a luminous diagonal, a true mineral fault line traversing the canvas. The mixture of oil and acrylic creates subtle texture plays. Shades of deep blue contrast with turquoise and sand tones.
The light seems to emerge from the center of the image to illuminate the reliefs. The chromatic transitions evoke natural landscapes seen from the sky or marine depths. Each glaze brings visual depth and careful transparency.
The balance between areas of shadow and golden highlights structures the whole with precision. The technique allows an organic fusion of pigments. This 2026 creation favors a sensory approach to space. The final rendering emphasizes a research into transparency and density. The painting ends with touches of pure white in the bottom right.
Presentation
Amélie Aubin is a painter based in Montreal whose practice explores abstraction through color, movement, and material.
After an initial period of creation in 2015, she moves away from painting for several years before returning to it during a time of profound personal transformation. Creation then becomes a space for her, a way to move forward, to find herself, and to explore a more intimate relationship with herself.
Rather than starting from a fully defined composition, she builds her works progressively, attentive to the balances that appear as she moves.
Her approach is based on a simple conviction: to first paint what she herself wishes to see and feel. When she tries to anticipate the gaze or expectations of others, the gesture loses its accuracy. She thus favors a free and instinctive creation, in which each work is born from the search for a balance between spontaneity, softness, and movement.
