Mountain Serenity – Nature Landscape, Circa 2022

Azhar Mehmood

Snow-covered mountains rise above a luminous meadow in , a landscape that connects the scale of nature with the simplicity of rural life.

In the foreground, cattle graze beside a winding ochre path. A herder stands to the right, giving the scene a human presence without disturbing its unhurried atmosphere. The animals’ warm brown and cream tones bring a gentle contrast to the cool blues of the mountains.

Azhar Mehmood builds depth through successive changes in colour and scale. The richly worked meadow opens towards evergreen trees, darker slopes and distant peaks. A prominent mountain draws the eye upward, its snow-bright ridges articulated through energetic strokes.

Yellow-green passages illuminate the foreground, while scattered rust, orange and red marks animate its surface. Above, pale clouds introduce warmth into the blue sky, echoing the sunlight across the grass.

The painting’s texture remains an active part of the image. Individual marks give character to the animals, vegetation and rocky slopes, inviting closer observation of how the scene is constructed.

The work expresses the artist’s interest in peaceful coexistence between people, animals and their environment. It offers a pastoral moment held within a landscape of striking scale and colour.
