Sunset serenity, Circa 2025

Azhar Mehmood

A tree opens its branches across a glowing evening sky in . Azhar Mehmood builds the composition around the relationship between this dark, enduring form and the changing colours of the landscape.

The trunk rises from a green foreground, carrying warm orange and cool blue accents through its darker surface. Above, slender branches spread in different directions, allowing fragments of sky to remain visible between them.

A pale sun sits low on the left, surrounded by scarlet, orange and yellow. These concentrated colours give way to softer pinks, lavender and blue towards the upper canvas. The transition creates an atmosphere in which warmth and quiet coexist.

Distant blue hills introduce depth beyond the tree. Their low contours offer a measured counterpoint to the intricate movement of the branches.

The visible texture brings another dimension to the scene. Layered painted passages give the sky a tactile character and emphasise the physical presence of the trunk and vegetation.

invites attention to a familiar natural event through expressive colour and a strongly structured composition. Its vertical format draws the eye from the rooted foreground towards the open sky.
