Tenderness, (Ballet series), 2010

Rakhmet Redzhepov (Ramzi)

A moment of quiet exhaustion unfolds in this evocative portrait. A dancer rests, curled inward in a pose of deep vulnerability. The composition captures the tension between the discipline of ballet and the fragility of the human form. Soft light grazes the skin, highlighting the curvature of the back and the peaceful expression of a closed eye.
The artist employs a rich blend of oil, acrylic, and mixed media to build depth. Luminous whites dominate the fabric, where thick brushstrokes create a tactile sense of tulle and silk. These textures contrast with the smooth, warm tones of the skin and the neutral, atmospheric background.
Executed in 2009, this artwork belongs to a thematic exploration of the ballet world. It emphasizes mood over movement, inviting the viewer into a private space of recovery and reflection. The pale palette evokes a soothing, ethereal quality. Every detail, from the tightened ribbons of the pointe shoes to the gentle tilt of the head, underscores a narrative of dedication and fatigue. The final result is a poetic study of grace in repose.
