Description
A nautical silhouette is outlined through jagged lines and flat areas of material. This acrylic composition plays on the balance between abstraction and figuration. The vertical lines of the masts cut through a sky in neutral and dusty tones.
The palette knife leaves strong traces on the canvas. The hull of the boat fragments into splinters of white and yellow. Orange touches bring a solar clarity to the scene.
The water reflects these nuances with graphic precision. Movement is suggested by vertical drips and tactile impasto. Space becomes a meeting place between calm and energy.
The chromatic palette remains controlled. It alternates between muted tones and bright accents. The final rendering favors structure and light. The work focuses on the verticality of the rigging and the horizontality of the water surface.

Presentation
Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
