Description
Lyrical abstraction is expressed here through an intense chromatic dialogue. Orange-red dominates the upper part, creating a sharp contrast with dark and deep masses. The gesture is free. The superimpositions of acrylic reveal a complex material work.
Black lines and nervous strokes come to structure the composition. They bring a jerky rhythm to the entire painting. An influence marked by the great masters of abstract expressionism is perceived. The gaze circulates between areas of clarity and areas of shadow.
The canvas plays on oppositions. White brings a necessary breath against the density of the pigments. The shades of gray and brown anchor the scene in a certain gravity. Each brushstroke emphasizes a desire to translate a raw energy.
This painting from 2022 explores the tension between order and chaos. The visual rendering favors the spontaneity of the stroke. The balance rests on the distribution of color blocks and the finesse of the graphic lines.
Presentation
Alice Achen has painted for 20 years. She took a course for several years at Paris' Fine Arts School Atelier, taught by Martin Bissière.
The painters that influenced her are particularly Zao Wou KI, Rothko, Debré, Joan Mitchell.
She exhibits in some other European countries.
Alice Achen paints works that privilege the power of the expression of colour. In it, she mixes the unexpected of designs and the dynamism of compositions. Thus, she finds a language, in the family of Lyrical Abstraction languages and one can find the influence of this trend's great painters in her.
The face to face with the colours produces emotion, fugitive and complex, and the combinations of red, green or purple blocks create the feeling of energy and determination that come out of her creations.
