Description
This 2022 acrylic painting is part of the lyrical abstraction movement. The composition plays on a marked contrast between cool and warm tones. A mauve background dominates the upper part, mixing with shades of blue and lavender. The gesture is free. The material spreads in wide bands, creating a spontaneous visual rhythm.
At the bottom of the canvas, touches of bright orange and earthy brown anchor the scene. These warm hues rise towards the center, forming a dynamic diagonal. The application of the paint varies between fluid areas and denser impasto. The balance rests on the opposition between the lightness of the violet sky and the telluric force of the ochre colors. The eye circulates without hindrance through these chromatic blocks. Each brushstroke affirms a precise intention. The light seems to emanate from the contrast between the purple and the orange. The whole ends with a discreet signature in the lower left corner.
Presentation
Alice Achen has painted for 20 years. She took a course for several years at Paris' Fine Arts School Atelier, taught by Martin Bissière.
The painters that influenced her are particularly Zao Wou KI, Rothko, Debré, Joan Mitchell.
She exhibits in some other European countries.
Alice Achen paints works that privilege the power of the expression of colour. In it, she mixes the unexpected of designs and the dynamism of compositions. Thus, she finds a language, in the family of Lyrical Abstraction languages and one can find the influence of this trend's great painters in her.
The face to face with the colours produces emotion, fugitive and complex, and the combinations of red, green or purple blocks create the feeling of energy and determination that come out of her creations.
