Description
An old stone fence stands beside a sunlit walkway, its ornate cast-iron grilles casting long shadows across the pavement. The artist was captivated by the fence’s slightly uneven rhythm, as if its pillars had drifted away from their original alignment. A year after the artwork was completed, the fence was replaced. This oil artwork keeps the memory of a familiar urban detail alive.
Cream-colored stone, dusty pink pavement, cool blue-gray shadows, and deep green foliage create a balanced palette. The loose brushwork captures the changing light and gives the architectural scene a quiet sense of movement. A thoughtful work for collectors who enjoy urban landscapes and the beauty of overlooked places.

Presentation
Daniil Mikhailov is a contemporary artist. A member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 2019, he has presented solo exhibitions at the Vasnetsov Art Museum (2022) and the Museum and Exhibition Center of Kirovo-Chepetsk (2023). His work has also appeared in major regional and national exhibitions, including Russia XIII in Moscow (2024) and Russian North 13 at the Pskov Museum-Reserve (2023).
Daniil Mikhailov's practice is centered on impression: the moment when looking turns into contemplation. Rather than describing a subject in exhaustive detail, he seeks to preserve its atmosphere and emotional charge.
His technique combines a soft, transparent, watercolor-like underpainting with dense, opaque brushwork applied by brush or palette knife. The contrast creates luminous shadows, saturated areas of light, and a surface that moves between delicacy and physical presence.
For Daniil Mikhailov, deliberate understatement is essential. By leaving forms partially unresolved, he gives color, light, and gesture greater emotional weight, inviting the viewer not simply to recognize a place or object, but to enter the state in which it was experienced.
