Eugenia Jaeger  

Eugenia Jaeger shows a collection of works taken from the series “Provinz Territoire” which she initiated in 2004 and which can be described as “the provincial portrait of the place”. Eugenia Jaeger works on the relationship between individuality and territory, on the limits and fragility of spatial and temporal parameters, on the influence of man on changes in the environment and on the landscape as a means of connecting nature and culture, reality and fiction. These are works that offer an observation over a long period of provincial life in different countries. It is interesting to note that life in villages which are further apart in space, being for example in Italy, Sweden, Russia, Finland, or Kazakhstan, is very similar. Uniformity, monotony, tranquility and proximity to nature, these are the elements that make up this universe which bears within it the marks of rural romance. For a provincial mind, the “capital” always appears as a sort of giant theater, violently lit, always in the limelight, a place where bright, festive and turbulent events are constantly taking place. The big cities are only "crucibles" which reveal the existence of multiple tendencies which could not however exist without the renewed contributions which provide the inhabitants and the customs coming from the provinces. It is this constant oscillation between “province” and “metropolis”, the heart of all culture, all art form and all individual consciousness, which constitutes the powerful and effective spring of his works.
