Description
This sublime work immortalises the magical moment of a sunset, when the horizon embraces the dawning night. At the centre of the composition, an incandescent red orb pierces the half-light, transforming the sky into a canvas of shadows and delicate nuances. This focal point of light exudes a hypnotic intensity, capturing the ephemeral transition between day and night. The colour palette is small but effective, relying on a subtle gradation of dark tones, from the deep blue of the vault of heaven to the crimson and orange hues around the sun's disc. This minimal chromatic scale amplifies the dramatic tension of the scene, while instilling a certain serenity into the whole. The artist demonstrates a remarkable mastery of the balance between light and darkness, brilliantly exploiting contrasts to evoke an atmosphere that is both mystical and soothing. This minimalist staging encourages the viewer to contemplate the fleeting and often unexpected beauty of nature. The uniqueness of this work lies in its ability to capture that precise moment in the day and transform an ordinary scene into a profound and contemplative visual experience. It invites us to reflect on the infinite cycle of nature and our place within it. It is a celebration of silence and immensity, captured with a clarity and depth that leaves no one indifferent.
Presentation
Professional photographer, I am based on the magnificent Reunion Island. There they say, where God rests in winter!
My purpose here is not so much to tell you about my background or what I have achieved in my life as a photographer and creative director, but rather to reveal to you how the image imposes itself on me and more especially photography.
Photography is one of the most authentic means of communication in our modern era. Of course, it's very easy to falsify or take an image out of context, that's not how I see my job as a photographer! In my view, a fixed image must, in an instant with what it carries within it, provide a feeling, an emotion, represent the reality of a situation or express the evidence of a moment of life, the truth!
Whatever the subject photographed, a portrait, a landscape or even a scene of life, I always make sure that my shutter lets in light. This light thanks to which a scene is possible, but above all authentic.
Most photographers will tell you that light is the basis of photography and it's true, but I want to go further and believe that "the art of photography" is that of writing light when the moment is offered to you to capture a moment, a situation, a fixed movement or an entire story in a fraction of a second.
What would existence be without this light which pushes us to dream, which gives hope, which, if we search with the eyes of the heart, reveals something else sometimes so subtly hidden, how can we survive without this light which is and which gives life.
