Description
Digital photograph of a hazel leaf with mushroom growth.
Printed on fine art paper.
The small white mycelium beads on the leaf's surface reminded me of paint drips and the work of Jackson Pollock, hence the photograph's title.
I also thought of Yayoi Kusama's colorful polka dots.
This work presents a tree leaf subtly transformed into a striking artistic composition. Against a neutral background, the leaf stands out with its shades of brown and rich texture, offering a peaceful yet powerful contrast. A remarkable detail is the meticulous ornamentation of small white beads on the upper left, adding an extra dimension and an unexpected touch of brilliance. This juxtaposition of the leaf's surface with the mycelium beads creates a harmonious balance between fragility and elegance. The absence of bright color accentuates the leaf's intrinsic beauty and invites the viewer to examine each detail closely and reflect on the ephemeral nature of things. This work embodies the poetry of nature and the art of sublimating the ordinary through detail and finesse.
Presentation
- Plastic artist
More than twenty years ago now, an artist friend during a walk cut a branch of forsythia attacked by galls from a hedge, telling me that it could be a good subject to paint.
So I took out my brushes and my school paints and reproduced the branch quite clumsily. But the virus took hold, pushing me to paint and progress. My scientific training and observational drawing help me a little for line, time and practice for color.
For ten years, I have accepted the idea of showing my work which revolves mainly around botany, zoology with often a suggested or even suggestive double reading.
I have a personal museum of curiosities which serves as a database for the production of my images.
I mainly use watercolor as a medium but also the repurposing of engravings, objects and photography.
