Description
In this intimate black-and-white portrait, María faces the camera with a restrained yet deeply expressive gaze. Subtle textures and tonal contrasts draw attention to her features, allowing emotion to surface without excess.
Part of , exhibited in Chiva, Spain, from September to November 2024, the photograph embodies the emotional aftermath of the DANA floods. More than a personal portrait, stands as a quiet testament to grief, endurance, and the human cost carried long after the water recedes.
Presentation
Emanuel Gravina (Argentina, 1985), based in Valencia, Spain. His practice explores humanity and territory through direct engagement with communities often placed at the margins, addressing themes such as homelessness, displacement and rural life within contexts marked by social or environmental challenges. Focused on resilience as a shared human condition, he works across photography, painting and other media without hierarchy, developing projects grounded in real connection, service and presence.
