Description
Black and white photograph capturing the haunting simplicity of a window set in a rustic stone wall. The frame is dominated by the stark contrast between the darkness of the interior and the bright light streaming through the windowpanes. Outside, vague silhouettes of tree branches and foliage hint at a verdant landscape. Inside, a single tall candle, unlit, stands on the windowsill, suggesting solitude and contemplation. The brickwork's texture is palpable, adding depth and character to the composition. The artist masterfully uses light and shadow to evoke a sense of mystery and timelessness, drawing the viewer into an introspective moment. The minimalist approach accentuates the serene yet enigmatic atmosphere, illustrating the interplay between manmade structures and nature.
Presentation
Emanuel Gravina (Argentina, 1985), based in Valencia, Spain. His practice explores humanity and territory through direct engagement with communities often placed at the margins, addressing themes such as homelessness, displacement and rural life within contexts marked by social or environmental challenges. Focused on resilience as a shared human condition, he works across photography, painting and other media without hierarchy, developing projects grounded in real connection, service and presence.
