Axel Fassio

Elephants are powerful ecosystem engineers, shaping Kitirua's (Kenya) grasslands and woodlands through their migrations, feeding, and deep knowledge of water sources. Calves learn ancient routes from their matriarchs, following paths carved over generations. Yet shrinking habitats and human–wildlife pressures challenge their survival. Through vigilant patrols, balanced rangeland management, and strong community stewardship, these vital corridors remain protected. Here, conservation lives in partnership, ensuring elephants can continue to roam, nurture their young, and sustain the landscape they help create.

This print comes from a series that has been in part acquired by the Artcoll Trust, associated with the Paul G. Allen Collection.
