The wild oat is delicate and tender, but also stubborn and penetrating when its awns get caught in fur or clothing.
This photograph has won several international awards, including category winner at the Pollux Awards, honorable mentions at the TIFA and BIFA, and a nomination at the FAPA. It is a striking example of Natalie Truchsess' award-winning abstract work, in which a minimalist focus on organic details reveals a profound meaning. The simplicity of this work belies its sophistication, inviting the viewer to appreciate the harmony and balance inherent in nature. With its expressive restraint, the artwork recalls the essence of traditional East Asian ink painting, combining form and emptiness in a timeless composition characterized by serenity and contemplation.

Presentation
Coming from documentary photography, my work still begins with something I encounter – plants, everyday objects, places or situations that draw my attention. Over the years, however, my visual language has increasingly developed towards abstraction. My photographs emerge within a relational space in which different realities meet. Different photographic approaches give me different ways of exploring these in-between spaces and engaging with the multilayered nature of the world.
With Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), I explore not only a place, but also its atmosphere or Genius loci. From this I developed Remodel by Camera Movement (RCM), my own technique in which the recognizable form of a subject is dissolved through multidirectional camera movement. These works form the basis of what I call Photographic Lyrical Abstraction.
In my Emergographies, I explore a different kind of in-between space, arising from the relationship between my perception, something I encounter, and the possibilities of the camera. I can create the conditions, look closely and respond to what appears, but I cannot fully determine the result. The resulting image can often develop an identity of its own.
My work has received numerous international photography awards, including 1st Place at the FAPA Fine Art Photography Awards, 3rd Place at the IPA International Photography Awards and the MONOVISIONS Photography Awards, as well as Silver and Bronze awards at BIFA, PX3 and TIFA.
