Description
This artwork explores the beauty of light and shadow through a dynamic and intriguing composition. The image's warm tones, dominated by shades of red and gold, create an enveloping and mysterious atmosphere. The skillful use of reflections on a smooth, shimmering surface divides the scene in two, introducing a subtle yet captivating symmetry. The interplay of light highlights the contours of a central form, evoking a vibrant abstract pattern. The contrasts between light and dark areas accentuate depth and add a dramatic dimension. This work invites prolonged contemplation, offering a unique and stimulating visual experience.
Presentation
Virgile Mollat du Jourdin is a visual artist, photographer, videographer and sound composer, a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
His practice explores the interaction between installation, photography, video, sculpture, sound, and mechanical devices. His work relies on viral tactics—parasitism, collage, détournement—which he interrogates through fiction.
He constructs fragmented universes composed of models, sculpted figures, still and animated images, as well as sound devices, questioning the circulation of information and its effects on bodies, architectures and narratives.
His installations take the form of immersive environments, made from recycled materials, simple mechanisms and cyclical sound devices.
His work has been presented in various exhibition contexts in France, including installations, group exhibitions and audiovisual projects.
Alongside his artistic practice, Virgile Mollat du Jourdin collaborates on films and audiovisual projects as a composer and sound designer.
