Description
This enigmatic work juxtaposes four windows illuminated by vibrant colors—yellow, green, blue, and red—each emerging from a mysterious mist that envelops the scene. The windows, intense sources of light, pierce the surrounding darkness, creating a striking contrast. The interplay of light and shadow accentuates the mystical atmosphere, inviting the viewer to explore hidden emotions and meanings. Each color evokes distinct feelings: yellow radiates warmth and hope, green inspires serenity and renewal, blue suggests tranquility and reflection, while red conveys passion and energy. This captivating composition demonstrates a skillful mastery of nuance and symbolism, prompting reflection on the realities beyond each window. The work invites profound meditation on the transition from the visible to the invisible, where color and light become bearers of unspoken stories.
Presentation
Virgile Mollat du Jourdin is a visual artist, photographer, videographer and sound composer, a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
His practice explores the interaction between installation, photography, video, sculpture, sound, and mechanical devices. His work relies on viral tactics—parasitism, collage, détournement—which he interrogates through fiction.
He constructs fragmented universes composed of models, sculpted figures, still and animated images, as well as sound devices, questioning the circulation of information and its effects on bodies, architectures and narratives.
His installations take the form of immersive environments, made from recycled materials, simple mechanisms and cyclical sound devices.
His work has been presented in various exhibition contexts in France, including installations, group exhibitions and audiovisual projects.
Alongside his artistic practice, Virgile Mollat du Jourdin collaborates on films and audiovisual projects as a composer and sound designer.
