Sol de Mallorca, Moonrise II, and IV. Triptych From the Series Mares., 2023

Miguel Winograd

This artwork is a striking triptych that explores the play of light and darkness over the ocean. Each panel captures a different moment of moonlight reflection on the sea's surface. The first image presents a mesmerizing glow, with the moonlight piercing through the thick clouds, illuminating the tranquil water below. In the second panel, a narrow, almost imperceptible line of light starkly contrasts the surrounding darkness, evoking a sense of mystery and quietude. The third section is dominated by a textured wave pattern, where the shimmering light creates a silvery path, adding depth and movement. The seamless transition between these panels invites viewers to contemplate the interplay of light and shadow. The minimalist composition emphasizes the serenity of the nocturnal ocean while highlighting the ephemeral nature of moonlight. This artwork captures the intricate beauty of natural phenomena with sophistication and allure.

Miguel Winograd's work explores the relationship between people and their environment, narratives of social conflict, and the dense interconnections of the Colombian landscape. His work, which occasionally includes portraits of trees, captures the essence of nature through a documentary lens.
