Description

This work is Panel I of a large-scale triptych called 'Demolition site'

An urban landscape divided by texture and tone. The composition is anchored by a massive, unfinished grey concrete wall meeting a dark brick facade at a sharp vertical seam, remnants of a structure being dismantled during campus redevelopments at the time. Below, a jagged mound of stones and crushed limestone cuts a textured horizontal line across the lower third of the frame. The stark, monolithic surfaces are punctuated only by three bright orange spray-painted markings at the base of the concrete and a low, glowing window above a wooden protective barrier on the right. Tucked behind this barrier, a blue and white "NYIT" sign anchors the scene to the New York Institute of Technology's flagship urban campus at Broadway and West 61st Street in Manhattan. It is a study of a city caught mid-demolition, emphasizing flat geometries, industrial weight, and raw, exposed material.
