    From a sober and classic frame, stand out the surrealist photographic works of Franck Doat, realized in black and white, some with a touch of color. Through this series entitled "Cities differently", the artist offers a stop, another look at life and the city.

    Inspired by the facades of palaces, monuments, buildings, and street furniture in Monaco, Paris and Beirut etc… Franck Doat reinvents the architecture of cities. His artistic approach begins with the choice of photos. So in Beirut, after having strafed three thousand photographs in four days, only twenty-three works will emerge, refined and definitive.

    In the intermediate phase, the artist declines his photographs, plays with distortion, shimmer, superposition, multiplication, expansion, and assemblage. The result is reminiscent of the reflection in water, or even the feminine curves that were the subject of his first works produced in an abstract and figurative style.

Franck Doat
France Born in: 1972 Emerging artists

Franck Doat is a self-taught photographer, who is known for his surrealistic images and urban landscapes in black and white.

He is mostly known for his "Villes autrement" series, unique photos of Paris, Monaco and Beirut. In his photos, Franck Doat doesn't hesitate to distort, lure the spectator, overlay, multiply or rebuild reality. For example, in one of his photos, he associated the Empire State Building in New York with a poor district in Beirut.

His works were mainly displayed during the «Eco Art Parade» in 2009 and Galerie Carré d'or in 2013, both in Monaco, not to mention the Dark Room in Nice in 2015.
