Description
This captivating work presents a face mysteriously emerging from a cracked surface, revealing an intriguing fusion of abstraction and portraiture. The use of torn textures and the apparent wear of the surface lend the piece a unique visual depth. These elements are layers of graffiti accumulated on Parisian walls, which the artist detaches and affixes to his works.
The shades of green contrast with the delicately drawn gray of the face, drawing the eye to the subject's intense and enigmatic gaze. This unique technique suggests an exploration of the themes of revelation and transformation.
Framed, the artwork plays with perceptions of space and depth, prompting the viewer to question what is hidden and what is revealed. This piece is a meticulous study of the duality between fragility and strength, offering a striking visual and emotional experience.
Presentation
Born in 1984, Anthony Grip (GRIPE) is from Seine Saint Denis. He started graffiti in the late 90s, first in the street, then on the RER tracks and the vacant lots of his neighborhood. GRIPE then continued to exercise his passion for graffiti by creating sets, storefronts, events, multiplying experiences while refining his technique with aerosol.
Influenced by the 80s/90s and pop culture, we find in his colorful work, many characters and references from his childhood, which he enjoys diverting to denounce certain excesses of our society. Self-taught and fascinated by graffiti as well as street art, he multiplies the techniques (aerosols, acrylic, stencil, collage) that he applies on different supports such as canvases, signage, metro maps, old objects ... GRIPE is a versatile artist who redoubles his creativity to better surprise and touch the public.
