Description
This captivating work reveals an enigmatic face emerging dramatically through a wall-like surface. It consists of layers of graffiti that the artist has removed from walls in the Paris region.
The juxtaposition of street art on the wall texture with the striking realism of the emerging eye creates a powerful contrast.
The eye, rendered with photographic realism, immediately captures the viewer's attention, seeming to observe them from beyond the painting. The grey tones of the face contrast elegantly with the turquoise and white tones of the wall, which boldly splits around the contours of the face.
The meticulously crafted details of the gaze add an intriguing depth, symbolizing the intersection of urban art and traditional portraiture. The impression of three-dimensional reality accentuates the effect of surprise and immersion.
Presentation
Born in 1984, Anthony Grip (GRIPE) is from Seine Saint Denis. He started graffiti in the late 90s, first in the street, then on the RER tracks and the vacant lots of his neighborhood. GRIPE then continued to exercise his passion for graffiti by creating sets, storefronts, events, multiplying experiences while refining his technique with aerosol.
Influenced by the 80s/90s and pop culture, we find in his colorful work, many characters and references from his childhood, which he enjoys diverting to denounce certain excesses of our society. Self-taught and fascinated by graffiti as well as street art, he multiplies the techniques (aerosols, acrylic, stencil, collage) that he applies on different supports such as canvases, signage, metro maps, old objects ... GRIPE is a versatile artist who redoubles his creativity to better surprise and touch the public.
