Description
The work is part of a cycle of 7 one-of-a-kind pieces made using the linoleum technique and printed on geographic paper. The work depicts black silhouettes emerging from the geographical places of highest concentration of oil pollution (black color). It is published in the exhibition catalog “worldview: anthropology of an ecological vision.”
This artwork presents a compelling exploration of human migration, depicted through bare silhouettes against a textured background. The scene captures five figures - a family - traversing an ambiguous landscape, whose shapes are meticulously outlined to convey movement and determination. They carry baskets, suggesting a journey of necessity and survival. The contrasting color palette, with dark silhouettes against a muted background, adds depth and intensity, emphasizing the theme of shadow and uncertainty. Figures recede from an abstract humanoid form on the left, introducing a sense of division or estrangement. Intriguing elements, such as the faint presence of animals and disjointed patterns, add to the narrative complexity, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of migration, belonging, and transformation. The use of negative space and minimalist details captures the emotional weight of movement, making this artwork thought-provoking and visually striking.
