Presentation
Serge Saunière, born in 1947, is a painter, designer and engraver. He is mainly known for his acrylic and ink works, in black and white. With a sensitivity close to aesthetics and oriental thought, his work of contemporary expression is a work of abstraction.
He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1972 to 1979, then at the University of the Arts in Tokyo from 1980 to 1985 thanks to a scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then from the Japan Foundation. At the Beaux-Arts, he studied with Marcel Gili, Georges Dayez and Jean-Marie Granier; in Tokyo, he studied traditional Japanese painting and the manufacture of its supports under the direction of Ikuo Hirayama in particular.
From 1986 to 1988, he was a resident of the Franco-Japanese House in Tokyo. From 1999 to 2012, he taught at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles (“creativity" course).
His works are present in the National Library of France and in the municipal libraries of Pau, Castres and Limoges.
“I create an evocative painting. Everyone transfers their emotions and sensitivity. It's just a support for contemplation or meditation. I leave maximum freedom to the observer. »
He lives and works near Paris.
