Description
Piazza di Spagna is a work of art created in 1979 by the Italian artist Michele Cascella. Colored lithograph on paper from the Portfolio "Paesaggio", 1979, with six original lithographs and the poems by Franco Simongini entitled "Venti Paesaggi 1953-1960" Hand signed on the bottom right in pencil and numbered in an edition of 29/125 ex. Embossed stamp lower right by the Graphis Art printing house, Livorno. The state of conservation of the works of art is very good. Michele Cascella (Ortona, 7 September 1892 - Milan, 31 August 1989) was an Italian twilight painter and landscape painter. Over the course of his long artistic life, which spanned almost eight decades of intense activity, Cascella was able to maintain a unique and unmistakable style, practically immune to the contamination of the pictorial currents and avant-gardes of the 20th century. His works, including canvases, panels, pastels and drawings, are exhibited in numerous Italian and international museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum[1] in London, the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume in Paris, the National Museum of History and Art of Luxembourg, the Musée d'Art Moderne in Brussels and the De Saisset Art Gallery of the University of Santa Clara in California, where a large permanent collection of works is exhibited. The graphic work is also copious, and includes lithographs, chromolithographs, serigraphs and etchings, techniques that An He had been using since he was a boy and thanks to which he learned - especially at the end of the 20th century - and still maintains a notable reputation among the general public. The distinctive traits of the painter combine the superb compositional ability, to which are added the great mastery of the drawing and the liveliness of the colors, of which the floral compositions are exemplary, in which Cascella reaches very high expressive heights, as well as the views, where he achieves of incomparable freshness, brightness and atmosphere.
