Mark di Suvero, Sans titre
United States  • 1933

Presentation

Mark di Suvero is an influential American sculptor known for his large-scale, abstract steel sculptures that merge art and engineering.

Di Suvero was born on September 18, 1933, in Shanghai, China. Di Suvero immigrated to the United States in 1941 and later studied philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. In the 1960s, he shifted his focus to art and began creating monumental sculptures using industrial materials like steel and iron.

Di Suvero's sculptures often feature bold, dynamic forms that invite viewer interaction. He is renowned for his ability to balance artistic expression with structural integrity, incorporating elements of movement and kinetic energy into his works.

Di Suvero's sculptures can be found in prominent collections and public spaces worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Château de Chambord in France.
