Description
In the dance of the waves and the murmur of the wind, the latest illustration of the summer 2024 season by Sophie Griotto evokes the freedom of a moment suspended between sky and sea.
Our heroine of the day walks along the ocean, her surfboard skillfully placed on her head. She could be on the Mediterranean coast, on the Ivory Coast or towards the warm seas of Australia: the blur of the landscape leaves us dreamy, our heads full of ideas of travel and freedom. In any case, the soft and soothing colors, with shades of light blue and beige, evoke the serenity of the sea and the warmth of the sand. The pale blue sky, dotted with clouds, suggests the sweetness of a late afternoon. The rays of the sun pass through the grass, bringing bright bursts to the composition.
The waves on the horizon shimmer in the breeze, inviting the viewer to imagine the sound of water and the cry of seagulls. This work brilliantly captures the dialogue between man and the sea, frozen in a moment of serenity.
Presentation
Sophie Griotto was born in 1975 in Alès. She studied applied arts in Nîmes and then in Toulouse before moving to Paris where she worked for a large advertising agency. In 1988, she started working as a freelancer, as a storyboarder, which led her to make films for prestigious houses such as Dior or Jean-Paul Gaultier. She then decided to turn to illustration in 2003.
Her illustrations are inspired by the world of fashion, the world of media, the world of childhood and poetry. Women play a main role in her creations, she is represented in all her modernity.
Sophie Griotto uses a lot of fabric, which allows her to highlight the colors and patterns.
In 2014, Sophie Griotto was entrusted with the decoration of a Parisian hotel located at the rue de la Paix.
The illustrator is part of the art book "100 Illustrators" as well as in "Illustration now, Fashion" by Taschen.
