This arresting watercolor artwork is an exemplary fusion of abstract expressionism and fluid dynamics, capturing the viewer's attention instantly with its intricate interplay of colors and forms. The artist employs a palette dominated by deep blues, vibrant oranges, and soft whites, each hue meticulously blending into the next with seamless precision. The fluidity of the watercolors creates a mesmerizing, almost ethereal quality, echoing the organic flow of natural elements. A focal point emerges amidst the swirling colors, suggesting a form that is both ambiguous and compelling. The interplay of light and shadow is deftly handled, with the more vibrant tones appearing to leap off the page, while the subdued, cooler hues recede into the background. This contrast generates an exquisite sense of depth and movement that draws the eye in and guides it around the composition. The rough, textured strokes interspersed with delicate splashes of color create a dynamic tension, embodying the spontaneity and controlled chaos characteristic of abstract expressionist works. Each brushstroke is deliberate yet free, capturing the essence of emotion and motion. The piece cleverly balances between randomness and structure, leaving much to the interpretation of the observer while providing a rich visual experience that speaks to the universality of artistic expression. It invites contemplation, evoking different emotions and thoughts each time it is observed — a testament to its profound complexity and artistic mastery.
Presentation
Doïna Vieru is an Ecuadorian-Moldavian artist born in 1978 who lives & works in France, Paris. She always preferred pas/pas/passionately the image to the word and all this despite crises of Bartlébysme. Between "I would prefer not to", pencils, papers, pvc or metal and other sharp instruments, the game remains his eternal favorite. After studying at the Chisinau Art Academy in Moldavia and Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France, she left Europe for Ecuador where she developed her own artistic language between mountains and jungle. Her return to 2019 in Paris is marked by an event-hanging at the Nesle gallery where she presented drawings on the three levels of the gallery. Her work, which has been exhibited regularly in Ecuador, Mexico, France, Romania and Moldova, still deals with the inexpressible. It's a kind of hide-and-seek game, to say and shut up.
Her production is serial: she paints on herself, on her pregnancies, to the rhythm of Tchaikovsky's Opus 35 or in the melanomaniac search for black. In the last series of drawings it is a question of hiding and destroying poetry by freely playing on large photographic paper with layers-history - palimpsests - superimposed where unintelligible writing mixes with charcoal, ink, with white acrylics and black stone. It is the rewriting of the disaster, a direct reference to the work of Maurice Blanchot: "When all is said, what remains to be said is the disaster, ruin of speech, failure in writing, rumor that murmurs: this which remains without remainder."
