This artwork captivates with its bold use of color and minimalist design. A solitary figure, poised at the edge of a stark, geometric swimming pool, stands confidently in a dynamic pose. The person holds a vibrant fabric above their head, contrasting against the deep, rich blues of the sky and water. A surreal, oversized tree silhouette looms in the foreground, adding an element of whimsy. The strong, angular lines of the pool create a striking juxtaposition with the organic curves of the distant hills, enhancing the painting's tranquility and depth. The composition's unique interplay of light and shadow evokes a sense of calm and solitude, inviting viewers to explore its serene beauty.
Presentation
Hugo Pondz was born in 1975 in Namur, Belgium where he currently lives and works.
In his dreams he travels to New York where he is interested in the urban landscapes and the empty, forgotten places. It is in the deep and dense blues, the luminous concrete and pools of calm and transparent waters that the artist, an observer, manages to capture the silence and impose a latent danger in a depiction which is almost minimalist in style, full of light and shadow.
A subtle alchemy settles immediately between the observer and the piece where the ease of interpretation helps the observer feel part of a world, which is almost too idle. In it, children gaze towards the horizon, leading us into instrospection and bringing us beyong a wall that we must all overcome one day or another.
