Artist statement :
I've created “Happy Meal" specially for Vertical Gallery's 11-year anniversary group show. I wanted to offer the collectors something different than what I've done so far in terms of limited edition by doing for the first time ever a complete drawing of my “Human of glass" signature character. So far I've only ever shown sketches or research boards but never a drawing treated as a stand alone artwork. This drawing, through the use of mixed media, allowed me to work more on the glass effect, shadows and volume like I would have on a painting. As usual with my work I rather not share my own interpretation of this work to leave everyone free to interpret this visual in the hope that people can relate to it.
Presentation
Florian "Flog" Gaborit, born in 1984 in Cholet, France, discovered his passion for drawing at an early age, which naturally led him to study graphic design at the prestigious Pivaut Nantes School. Six years ago, Flog settled in the picturesque Nantes vineyard region, and today, he lives and works in Sainte-Lumine de Clisson.
In 2024: Flog participated in various prestigious contemporary art exhibitions, where his works were highlighted in showcases exploring the intersection of pop culture and street art.
In 2025: Flog is set to unveil new works in international galleries, continuing his exploration of romantic, dreamlike, and sarcastic themes.
His latest projects, such as "Human of Glass", have become emblematic representations of his artistic identity. Thanks to his unique combination of street influences and classical techniques, Flog remains an influential figure in the contemporary art scene.
Flog's art is defined by his mixed techniques—including aerosol spray, acrylic, and oil paints applied on various surfaces, such as road signs and canvases. His works display an impressive precision in gesture and detail, with complex backgrounds, reflections, and transparency playing a key role in his compositions. The result is an art that is as technical as it is expressive, revealing his mastery of multiple mediums and his unique ability to combine street art with fine art.
Influenced by graffiti and pop culture, Flog creates dreamlike, romantic, and at times sarcastic works. His art invites viewers to interpret stories without words, focusing instead on the atmosphere and context surrounding his figures. These scenes offer an immersive, almost disturbing narrative, allowing the audience to construct their own emotional connection to the artwork.
