Description
This original work repurposes an authentic 500 franc Pascal banknote by incorporating the universe of pop culture, street art, and contemporary symbols. Framed in an elegant black matting, the banknote becomes the support for a composition mixing nostalgia, luxury, and urban culture.
In the foreground appears Gizmo, the famous Mogwai, revisited in a resolutely modern version. Wearing a cap with a monogram inspired by Louis Vuitton and a prominent gold chain adorned with a Bitcoin medallion, the character adopts a provocative attitude by giving the viewer the middle finger. This contrast between his innocent appearance and his irreverent gesture creates a humorous juxtaposition.
The portrait of Blaise Pascal, preserved on the original banknote, dialogues with this contemporary intervention. The meeting between this symbol of French heritage and an icon of popular culture highlights the opposition between heritage, consumption, and new forms of wealth.
Realized directly on a genuine banknote, this work questions value in all its forms: monetary value, artistic value, and cultural value. The use of references to luxury, cryptocurrencies, and cinema reinforces its current character while placing the piece within the aesthetic of pop art and street art.
Presented in a sober black frame, signed and numbered, this limited edition creation stands out for its humor, its impudence, and its critical look at our relationship with money, brands, and icons of contemporary culture.
Presentation
Ciscø, self-taught, born in 1979 in Hauts-de-France has been passionate about plastic art since a very young age. Today, he diverts collector's notes and more particularly the 5OO Francs (more commonly called "Pascal") into iconic and pop culture themes. Ciscø gives a unique and exclusive touch to this symbolic banknote. It's also a way to give him a second chance! His nostalgia for the Franks guides him in this artistic theme that he is personally fond of.
His works travel through the regions of France and cross European borders. His paintings are exhibited in various French showcases and international galleries. Happy to live a growing artistic passion, Ciscø sells throughout the world for private collectors and multiplies exhibitions in France and abroad, to share his artistic universe.
