Description
This work presents itself as a contemporary composition mixing street art, object détournement, and monetary iconography. It is framed in a black American box with a wide anthracite mat board that highlights the central subject: an authentic 500 franc "Pascal" banknote transformed by the artist's intervention.
The banknote is revisited by a painted scene where a protester dressed in black seems to throw a red mushroom with white polka dots, an obvious nod to the Super Mario universe, towards a police officer in a helmet. He is depicted in the act of receiving the impact, creating a scene frozen between social confrontation and quirky humor. The two red mushrooms become absurd symbols that defuse the violence of the scene while reinforcing its satirical character.
The contrast between the institutional imagery of the banknote, representing Blaise Pascal, and this intervention inspired by street art creates a reflection on power, authority, value, and power dynamics. The artist détourns an object laden with history and financial value to make it a narrative support where popular culture meets social reality.
Presentation
Ciscø, self-taught, born in 1979 in Hauts-de-France has been passionate about plastic art since a very young age. Today, he diverts collector's notes and more particularly the 5OO Francs (more commonly called "Pascal") into iconic and pop culture themes. Ciscø gives a unique and exclusive touch to this symbolic banknote. It's also a way to give him a second chance! His nostalgia for the Franks guides him in this artistic theme that he is personally fond of.
His works travel through the regions of France and cross European borders. His paintings are exhibited in various French showcases and international galleries. Happy to live a growing artistic passion, Ciscø sells throughout the world for private collectors and multiplies exhibitions in France and abroad, to share his artistic universe.
