Description
Three childlike silhouettes stand side by side. The gaze is directed forward. The composition relies on a strong play of contrasts. The ink line defines the shadows and lights. These figures emerge from forgotten images. Time erases the details but preserves the essence of the moment.
The background is composed of broad colored areas. A yellow solar circle dominates the upper part. A dusty pink shade extends to the right. These geometric shapes intersect to create an abstract space.
The artist transforms an anonymous memory into a timeless scene. The everyday becomes a poetic subject here. The screen printing technique brings rigorous graphic precision. The visual rendering evokes the warmth of a summer afternoon.
This creation dates from 2024. It belongs to a series of limited editions. The white paper emphasizes the luminosity of the pigments used. Three young girls pose confidently in front of a ball.
Presentation
Valérie Betoulaud, graduated in visual communication of applied arts, began her career as artistic director in communication, then worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for the press, design agencies as well as style offices in decoration. In recent years, she has been showing her work in contemporary art fairs and several galleries.
"From forgotten photos, witnesses of anonymous lives, I let myself be guided by these fragments of memory, moments of happiness shared by the water, under the summer sun, and try to find reflections of life there. . I redraw in Indian ink, the shadow and the light and add color to these black and white images, blurry, erased by time. Stories are told, families come together, thus these portraits are born. "
