Description
At the center of a wall saturated with tags, a black and white face emerges: a crimped bun, heavy eyeliner, a frontal gaze — the sixties icon in all its freshness, treated like a fashion photograph torn from its time and pasted onto the concrete of a contemporary street.
Around her, everything explodes. Layers of superimposed graffiti, illegible lettering in blue, red, and black, splashes, white drips running down the canvas, fragments of aerosol cans and bursts of garish colors: the background functions as a workshop wall or a derelict facade, where each layer covers another without ever completely erasing it. Some inscriptions even mark the face itself, as if the icon had been tagged in turn.
At the heart of the composition, the bubblegum bubble. A circle of neon pink LED, inflated in front of the mouth, illuminates the lower part of the face with an electric glow and immediately imposes its focal point. It is the quintessential childish gesture, the quiet insolence, the second suspended before bursting — and by the light, it becomes the heartbeat of the work.
The statement is there: to confront the icy elegance of the classic star with the raw energy of street art. The icon is no longer on glossy paper, it is in the street, covered, commented on, reappropriated. The pink bubble adds the touch of irony that disarms the myth without ever betraying it.
